PS/SJ, CR Inspect Finishing Works of Appellate Courts' Superstructures

On Thursday October 26, 2023, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr Pius Bigirimana, the Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, the Deputy Registrar Supreme Court, HW Mary Babirye and the Commissioner Human Resource, Ms Apophia Tumwine, inspected the appellate courts superstructures at the Judiciary headquarters.

The visit was to appreciate the progress of the finishing works at the sites. 

The Commissioner Engineering and Technical Services, Eng Dr Christopher Ebal, who is the project manager of the appellate courts' construction project the PS/SJ and the Chief Registrar on the inspection. 

"It is smart, beautiful, and clean. It is professionally done," Dr Bigirimana observed

He noted that the work is on schedule and that by the end of November, the Supreme Court should be ready for occupation while the Court of Appeal should be set by the end of December.

"If all goes according to plan, I think before the end of January we should be getting ready to enter those courts," Dr Bigirimana stated. 

The PS/SJ is confident that with the support from Government through the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the contractor will be able to be paid for the job well done. 

The Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, thanked God for allowing the Judiciary to have such magnificent structures as homes for the Appellate Courts. She also thanked the PS/SJ, Eng Dr Ebal and everybody who has been part of the process for the job well done.

"As the person who was the Chairperson of the Contracts Committee that handled this procurement, I am surely very proud and I believe my members of the Contracts Committee of that time when they see this, they are equally very proud," she said.

"I am looking forward to the completion and successful entrance so that the Justices of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal have befitting structures to handle their work," the Chief Registrar said.

Eng Dr Ebal said that everything is taking shape and soon the appellate courts will be in Judiciary-owned structures.
